Advertisement and Media Compliance

Natural Health Products must adhere to the labelling standards set forth in Section 5 of the Natural Health Products Regulations.    These include such information as the Natural Product Number (NPN) appearing on the principal display panel, medicinal ingredients listed in linear or tabular format, recommended use or purpose, directions of use, risk statements as just a few requirements. The regulations also include marketing and advertising of Natural Health products from product label to all media outlets including print, television, radio and internet and must be adhered to as per Section 9(1) of the Food and Drug Act.  The Consumer Advertising Guidelines for Marketed Health Products periodically goes through revisions with the last major update in October 2006.  Such of these changes included the term Organic and how it should be handled in advertising, how recommended use terms are used to apply in advertising for a family of products, and terms of market authorization to name a few.

Quality Smart Solutions can review your label, website, print ads and television commercials to ensure they meet Health Canada policies as it relates to advertising requirements.
