HM-DIN Package Compliance and French Translation

DIN-HM Package Compliance

Drug Identification Number-Homeopathic Medicine (DIN-HM) is an eight-digit numerical code. It is assigned to each homeopathic medicine approved to be marketed in Canada under the NHPR. As per  DIN-HM Package Compliance, DIN-HM must appear on the label so that compliance officers and consumers must know that the product has been reviewed and approved by Health Canada.

Homeopathic Medicine Labelling Requirements

Homeopathic medicines follow the same labelling requirements as Natural Health Products (NHP) with a few exceptions:

  • Statement of recommendation for Use of Purpose is not permitted for Non-specific claim homeopathic.
  • Risk Statement to the effect of, “If symptoms continue or worsen, consult a health care practitioner.” “If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a health care practitioner before using.”
  • As per Canadian labelling laws, homeopathic medicine labels must be bilingual (ie. both in English and in French as both languages are considered official in Canada).
